Married, that is.
Gustavo and I met almost three years ago, on my first trip to Rio. Life has changed so much since then.
Just in the past year, we spent our first Christmas and New Year’s together. (This year, we’re looking forward to doing it in the US so I can show Gustavo just how much food Italians eat on Christmas.)
We’ve competed in two Crossfit competitions together.
We also received our Crossfit Level 1 Trainer certificates, so we can continue to develop the passion for this sport that we love doing together.
We’ve visited Ilha Grande, New York, São Paulo, and Panama City together. Later this year, we’re hoping to spend some time in Europe together as well, which will be Gustavo’s first time visiting!
We’ve watched countless series and movies together, both together and afar.
We’ve eaten every single food I’ve craved together, from cookie dough to donuts to pizza to some more pizza.
We’ve talked about our plans for the future. We’ve argued. We’ve scratched our heads trying to figure out problems that sometimes seemed to have no solution.
Most importantly, we’ve done it all together.
Sometimes it feels like our life is a little bit in limbo while we wait to see where we can live together, where we want to live together, what that will look like, and how. But you can’t get too caught up in the future, because what’s most important is what we’re experiencing right now.
Last night, to celebrate, we visited the Blue Note Rio for the first time. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for ages, but it was always a little too expensive and not quite what I wanted to see. Last night, though, there was a tribute to Thelonious Monk, who I adore. Gustavo had never seen live jazz before!
It was so much fun to be in such a special place, together. Next year, though, I want to do it in New York, at the original Blue Note. We’ve got to start our own traditions 🙂
